Description
AIAP is scheduling the most exciting and challenging hike of southern California. We'll hike the 10,804 foot San Jacinto peak the easy way. We'll ride the exciting Aerial Tram in Palm Spring to elevation of 8,500-foot and then hike 11.6 miles to the top via Round Valley trails. On our way, We'll discover th Wellman Divide to view the beautiful Idyllwide Valley, jagged Tahquitz peak & Red Tahquiz.<br><br>When you reach the San Jacinto Peak, the highest point is Southern California, the view is truly breathtaking. You can almost can see just about all of Southern California, even into Mexico, Nevada, and out to the Pacific Ocean.<br><br>Binoculars are highly recommended. Have comfortable shoes, plenty of waters, sandwich, sun tan lotion, and wind protection. <br><br>DATE: SATURDAY JUNE 12, 2004 <br>TIME: 7:15- 7:30 AM <br>LOCATION: Meet in front of SEARS Store, in North county Mall in Escondido, I-15 North to Via Rancho Parkway Exit. <br><br>We'll share ride & gas cost to Palm Spring( 2 hours drive). Drivers needed. <br><br>If you wish to drive directly to Palm Spring, Meet the group in the Lobby of the Palm Spring Aerial Tram no later than 9:30 AM. The group is scheduled to ride 9:45 AM Tram. <br><br>Direction to Palm Spring Aerial Tram:<br><br>I-15 North, 215 North, 60 East, 10 East, 111 East.
