Liberty, justice and human dignity are not ideals or privileges, but rather are the birthright of every person and the linchpins of a civilized society.

Unfortunately, in many places around the world such concepts and practices are not freely practiced. Every day, thousands of individuals, some famous, but many anonymous, demonstrate extraordinary courage in the pursuit of such birthrights.
<br><br>
This is an educational event aimed at examining human rights from Legal, Religion and Gender points of view. We hope to raise awareness of the importance of human rights and the support it must get from those who have the privilege of enjoying these fundamental rights without fear of persecution.

We at NIPOC as organizer of this event hope to engage the community to explore the root of such violations and demand accountability and access to rights under the law.

Panelists:<br> Dr. Reza Aslan - Internationally acclaimed writer and scholar of religions and Middle East issues. He is the author of bestseller, “No god but God: The Origins, Evolution, and Future of Islam”

Dr. Pardis Mahdavi - Author of “Passionate Uprisings Iran's Sexual Revolution” she is Professor of Anthropology at Pomona College and a consultant for the International Women's Health Coalition.

Dr. Stephen Kennedy - Associate professor of Communication and Culture at Trinity Graduate School. Dr. Kennedy was a Congressional Fellow in the United States Senate in 1986 and for the next three years was a speechwriter in the US Department of Health and Human Services
