SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Public Library and the Persian Cultural Center of San Diego will screen the film No One Knows about Persian Cats (Kasi az Gorbehaye Irani Khabar Nadareh) at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, in the 3rd floor auditorium of the Central Library, located at 820 E Street in downtown San Diego. The screening is being held in conjunction with the One Book One San Diego reading campaign 2011 selection, The Gangster We Are All Looking For, by native San Diegan lê thi diem thúy. Music speaks a universal language in this heartbreaking hopeful story of the travails of two aspiring independent musicians in Tehran looking for band members to play at a London concert. Directed by Bahman Ghobadi, No One Knows about Persian Cats effortlessly encompasses various musical genres like rock, jazz, metal and rap into its soundtrack, neatly blended in with breathtakingly beautiful camera-work of the many worlds of Tehran. The film was shot in secret and features extraordinary performances by real underground Iranian bands. It won the Special Jury Prize in the 'Un Certain Regard' category at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival.
