Shabe Yalda with ISTA

It\'s this time of year again and ISTA presents another annual celebration of Yalda. This year, ISTA\'s signature event will include Hafez recitation, different music performances (Traditional, Folklore, etc), local dance performance, snacks of Yalda, karaoke competition, dinner by best grills in town followed by a must-go afterparty. DJ Mohsen will spin finest tunes that night. Dress to Impress!<br />

About Yalda:<br />

“Yalda" has great significance in the Iranian calendar and corresponds to the longest night of year. In Iranian culture, Yalda is celebration of a turnover as light triumphs against the darkness. It is the eve of the birth of Mithra, the Sun God, who symbolized light, goodness and strength on earth. The winter solstice with the longest night of the year is an auspicious day, and included customs intended to protect people from misfortune. In this day, people are advised to stay awake most of the night. To commemorate, people have parties and gatherings and eat the last remaining fresh fruits from summer.<br />
