Maryam follows the struggle of a young Iranian-American in New Jersey as the 1979 Hostage Crisis breaks out, turning friends and neighbors against her and her family. There he wrote, directed, and edited two short films, Tom Comes Over to Visit and My Sister(s) Wedding. My Sister(s) Wedding was shown at several European film festivals, and was included in the International Tournee of Iranian Short Films. He received his B.A. in English and American Literature from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. MARYAM marks his feature film writing and directorial debut.
